How to call us from overseas
There's three parts to a phone number when dialing overseas:
2. the country code
if we (the reciever of the call) are in the US: 1
if we (the reciever of the call) are in France: 33
if we (the reciever of the call) are in China: 86
(see also: http://www.eventsworldwide.com/i-codes.htm
3. the phone number
Sometimes there are area codes or dropped zeros or ones that need to be taken into account. For example, in france, our numbers start with 0, but if you are dialing from overseas, you drop the zero. If you are in the US, sometimes you need to add or drop a 1 at the beggining of the phone number.
what that all means:
if you are in france, and you want to reach gene on his american cell phone, you can reach him at 00 1 503.803.5031, where 00 is the international access code, 1 is the country code, and 503.803.5031 is his phone number.
if you are in the US and want to reach our french house, you dial 011 33 1.43.29.51.00, where 011 is the international access code, 33 is the country code, and 1.43.29.51.00 is the phone number.
Time zones
I might answer the phone at 3 am if I hear it but i can't promise to remember the conversation. If we're in France, it's 9 hours earlier in the US. Call us in (your) morning.
